Alan is currently Managing Director, Global Brand Marketing and Strategy for The Nature Conservancy, the world’s largest conservation organization. In this role, Alan leads Global Brand Strategy, Content and Creative as well as North America Marketing. Alan serves on the North American Leadership Team, and supervises the integrated marketing activities of over 100 marketers and communicators. Alan was instrumental in kicking off a brand evolution strategy as well as a multi-year digital transformation effort aimed at providing new marketing technology solutions which will deliver best-in-class digital experiences and greatly improved marketing efficiencies.
Before arriving at TNC, Alan served as Interim Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Director of Marketing and Branding at NPR, based in Washington, DC. At NPR, he led efforts to evolve NPR’s brand position amongst an expanding base of listeners, drove digital marketing acquisition efforts for NPR One (mobile listening app) and led numerous cross-platform digital and socially fueled program launches. Alan is the former founder and CEO of Brand New World, a firm dedicated to providing digital solutions for the emerging media marketplace. At Brand New World, Alan oversaw rapid growth and expansion, with clients including Johnson and Johnson, Coca Cola, Discovery Communications and non-profits including The Nature Conservancy and Environmental Defense Fund. Before being sold to a larger marketing services firm, Brand New World generated more than 20 awards for creativity and established itself as a workplace known for youthful, innovative thinking and a warm work culture.
Alan began his career in Chicago where he led major national and global accounts for agencies including Campbell Mithun Esty and DDB.
